Rural micro businesses across the Omagh area and wider surrounding communities are being encouraged to apply for support through the new £4million Rural Business Development Grant Scheme 2026/2027.
The scheme, announced by DAERA Minister Andrew Muir MLA, will open for applications on Monday 29 June 2026.
Eligible rural businesses can apply for capital assistance of 50%, up to a maximum grant value of £7,500, to help purchase capital equipment. This support is aimed at helping businesses become more sustainable, competitive and innovative, while also supporting service expansion and access to new markets.
For rural businesses in and around Omagh, including small enterprises, sole traders and micro businesses based in surrounding villages and rural communities, this scheme could provide valuable support to invest in equipment that helps them grow, modernise or improve how they operate.
The Rural Business Development Grant Scheme is funded through DAERA’s Tackling Rural Poverty and Social Isolation Framework and will be delivered by local councils on behalf of DAERA.
Launching the scheme, Minister Muir said rural businesses make an important contribution to local economies and communities, and that the funding will support eligible businesses to invest in their future and improve their sustainability credentials.
Applications will close at 12 noon on Thursday 30 July 2026.
