A new Northern Ireland Photonics Innovation Cluster (NI-PIC) has launched to bring together businesses, researchers and government to accelerate innovation and create high-value economic growth, and Omagh businesses are encouraged to get involved.
Photonics, the science behind lasers, sensors and fibre optics, is driving change across manufacturing, healthcare, energy and communications. NI-PIC aims to help Northern Ireland companies, including those in Omagh and the wider West region, harness these technologies to develop new products, boost productivity and compete on a global scale.
By connecting local firms with research partners and industry experts, NI-PIC will make it easier for Omagh-based innovators to collaborate, build skills and turn cutting-edge ideas into commercial success.
Funded by Invest Northern Ireland and supported by Digital Catapult, the cluster welcomes applications from startups, SMEs, large companies, academic researchers and investors, all working together to position Northern Ireland as a leader in photonics innovation.
‘Pure’ photonics and photonics-enabled companies, as well as businesses in photonics supply chains and wider industry stakeholders are eligible to join the cluster.
They will be featured in the NI-PIC Member Directory, which showcases the diverse companies, organisations, and stakeholders that make up NI’s photonics ecosystem.
Members should seek to explore collaboration, research partnerships and knowledge exchange, as well as skills development, policy engagement and investment opportunities within the photonics sector.
