The UK Intellectual Property Office (IPO) is preparing to launch its new One IPO Patents Service in early 2026 — a major digital upgrade that will change how patents are managed across the UK.
For businesses in Omagh and the surrounding area, this means a more streamlined way to apply for, update, and manage patents — all through a single online account. The new platform is designed to speed up transactions, reduce errors, and make it easier for teams and advisers to collaborate.
What’s Changing

WebF will close as soon as the new service goes live.

eOLF (European Patent Office) will no longer have EPO support after 1 January 2026. UK filings will still be accepted through eOLF until 1 April 2026.

PCT applications must be filed through the WIPO’s ePCT service from 1 January 2026.

Paper filings will still be accepted, with updated forms available.
This move will bring all UK patents into one central place, modernising intellectual property management and creating new efficiencies for rights holders.
What Local Businesses Should Do Now
To get ready for the transition, the IPO recommends that businesses:

Nominate an IPO account administrator.

Plan for the retirement of current filing systems.

Renew eOLF certificates by 30 November 2025 if you intend to use it in 2026.

Keep an eye on updates via GOV.UK, IPO newsletters, and social media.
At present, larger organisations are being invited to create accounts ahead of the launch, while smaller businesses will be able to join once the new service is fully live in 2026.
