From Tuesday 18 November 2025, new legal requirements mean that directors and people with significant control (PSCs) of companies must verify their identities with Companies House.
This change will affect businesses across the UK, including company directors and PSCs here in Omagh and the wider Fermanagh and Omagh District.
What’s Changing?
-
New directors will need to verify their identity before incorporating a company or being appointed to an existing one.
-
Existing directors must confirm they have verified their identity when filing their next annual confirmation statement, within a 12-month transition period.
-
Existing PSCs must verify their identity within 12 months of the new rules taking effect.
Companies House will phase in these requirements over a year to help businesses adjust. For most people, this will be a simple, one-off process taking only a few minutes.
How to Verify
Identity checks can be completed:
-
Online, free of charge, via GOV.UK One Login
-
Or through an Authorised Corporate Service Provider (ACSP)
Once verified, individuals will receive a personal code from Companies House. From 18 November 2025 onwards, this code must be used alongside a verification statement for each company role.
Staying Compliant
Companies House will contact companies directly with guidance on what their directors and PSCs need to do. From November, directors and PSCs can also log into the Companies House register to check verification deadlines for all their roles.
Businesses in Omagh are encouraged to act early to avoid delays or compliance issues.
