Innovation Enterprise Programme

The Innovation and Enterprise Programme received £2.27 million, part-financed by the European Union’s INTERREG IVA Programme, managed by the Special EU Programmes Body.  The initiative is a cross-border EU programme to further advance the economic links between Omagh, Leitrim, and the wider cross-border ICBAN region and beyond. It is led by Omagh District Council, in partnership with Omagh Enterprise Company, Leitrim County Council and Leitrim Enterprise Fund and has been developed by the ICBAN Limited through their Multi-Annual Plan.

One of the key aims of the programme is to develop an Innovation Growth Centre based in Omagh to attract start up, growth & innovative businesses to the area.

The key objectives are:

  • to create a hub for the delivery of innovation-centred support
  • to attract businesses to locate in the Innovation Growth Centre
  • to provide ‘hot desk’ facilities for start up businesses at affordable rates
  • to provide high specification office space for the early stage development of businesses
  • to deliver a series of seminars to promote entrepreneurship and innovation
  • to deliver mentoring to businesses in the area.

The Innovation and Enterprise Programme is progressing with the development of a 14,000 square feet two storey Innovation Growth Centre based at Omagh Enterprise Company.  The construction phase of the centre will begin in May 2012 and provide high-spec accommodation for knowledge-based businesses.
