Businesses in Omagh and across Northern Ireland are being encouraged to apply for the autumn 2026 cohort of the Artificial Intelligence Collaboration Centre’s (AICC) fully funded, hands-on support programme for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
Artificial intelligence is increasingly being used by businesses to improve productivity, reduce administration, analyse information and develop new products and services. However, many SMEs may be unsure where to start or which AI technologies could offer genuine value.
The AICC programme aims to bridge that gap by giving eligible businesses free access to specialist AI expertise, helping them identify practical opportunities to use artificial intelligence within their organisation.
Support is tailored to each participating business and can explore where AI could help save staff time, reduce costs, improve processes or create new commercial opportunities.
Who can apply?
The programme is open to SMEs based in Northern Ireland that meet the AICC’s eligibility criteria.
Businesses must also be able to commit appropriate staff time and participate fully in the support process.
Importantly, applicants do not need to have previous experience of artificial intelligence or know exactly what type of support they require.
The AICC team will assess each participating business, its challenges and potential opportunities before matching it with the most appropriate level of specialist support.
This makes the programme particularly useful for SMEs that are interested in exploring AI but are unsure how the technology could be applied to their day-to-day operations.
Autumn 2026 applications now open
Demand for AICC’s hands-on business support has been exceptionally high.
During 2026/27, support is being delivered through a cohort-based system with specific application windows throughout the year.
Applications for the autumn 2026 cohort are now open, but only a limited number of places are available. Businesses interested in taking part are therefore encouraged to apply as early as possible, as the application window may close early if demand is particularly high.

Supporting responsible AI adoption
The Artificial Intelligence Collaboration Centre is a £16.3 million initiative led by Ulster University in partnership with Queen’s University Belfast.
Supported by Invest Northern Ireland and the Department for the Economy, the five-year project aims to increase awareness and adoption of AI technologies among businesses throughout Northern Ireland.
Its wider objectives include helping businesses improve competitiveness and productivity while encouraging the ethical and responsible use of artificial intelligence.
