Rural community groups, voluntary organisations and Social Economy Enterprises across Omagh and surrounding rural areas can now apply for support through the new £2.2 million Rural Micro Capital Grant Scheme (RMCGS) for 2026/2027.
Announced by DAERA Minister Andrew Muir MLA, the scheme will provide grants of between £500 and £2,500 to help eligible organisations deliver small-scale capital projects aimed at tackling rural poverty and social isolation.
The funding is being delivered through DAERA’s Tackling Rural Poverty and Social Isolation (TRPSI) Programme and is designed to support projects that make a practical difference within local communities.
Projects supported through the scheme must focus on one of the following areas:
- Energy efficiency or environmental improvements
- Modernisation of buildings or assets
- Information Communication Technology (ICT)
- Health and wellbeing initiatives
Speaking at the launch of the scheme, Minister Muir said the funding can help organisations improve services, strengthen community connections and reduce loneliness and isolation in rural areas.
The Minister also highlighted the scheme’s role in supporting energy efficiency measures and environmental improvements that can help reduce both emissions and running costs for rural organisations.
This year, the maximum grant available has increased to £2,500, giving groups greater flexibility to invest in equipment, upgrades and small-scale improvements.
The scheme will be delivered locally through Rural Support Networks on behalf of DAERA. Applicants must provide at least 15% match funding as part of their application.
Applications close at 12 noon on Monday 22 June 2026.
