Omagh businesses, apprentices and training providers are encouraged to showcase their achievements

Businesses, apprentices and training providers across Omagh and the wider Fermanagh and Tyrone area are being encouraged to enter the Northern Ireland Apprenticeship Awards 2027.

The annual awards recognise the important contribution apprenticeships make to businesses and the wider economy, while celebrating the apprentices, mentors, employers and training organisations that help make them a success.

For local businesses, the awards provide an opportunity to highlight how apprenticeships are helping to develop skills, strengthen teams and create opportunities for people to build rewarding careers.

Award categories for 2027

There are eight award categories available:

  • Apprentice of the Year Award
  • Higher Level Apprentice of the Year Award
  • Public Sector Apprentice of the Year Award
  • Champion of the Year Award
  • Large Employer in partnership with their Training Provider Award, for organisations with 250 employees or more
  • Small to Medium-Sized Enterprise (SME) in partnership with their Training Provider Award, for organisations with fewer than 250 employees
  • Mentor Award
  • Public Sector Employer in partnership with their Training Provider Award

The range of categories means there are opportunities to recognise not only outstanding apprentices, but also the employers, mentors and training providers supporting them throughout their apprenticeship journey.

A chance for Omagh businesses to be recognised

Apprenticeships can provide businesses with an effective way to develop new talent, address skills needs and invest in the future of their workforce.

For SMEs in Omagh and across County Tyrone, the awards are also an opportunity to demonstrate the work being done locally to provide employment, training and career development opportunities.

Businesses that work closely with a training provider may wish to consider entering the SME Employer in partnership with their Training Provider category, while individual apprentices and mentors can also be nominated for their achievements.

How to apply

Applications are open to eligible apprentices, employers, mentors and training providers across Northern Ireland.

The deadline for applications is midday on Friday 23 October 2026.

Anyone interested in entering is encouraged to allow plenty of time to prepare their application and clearly demonstrate the achievements, progress and impact they want the judges to consider.
