Omagh Landlords Invited to Have Their Say on Proposed Changes to Landlord Registration Scheme

Two people sit at a desk with documents, a pen, a calculator, and a small model house, discussing landlord registration changes. A text banner and Omagh Enterprise logo are visible.

Private landlords and those involved in the property sector in the Omagh area are being encouraged to take part in a consultation on proposed changes to Northern Ireland’s Landlord Registration Scheme.

The Landlord Registration Scheme Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2014 require all private landlords to be registered. The Department for Communities (DfC) is now proposing updates to the regulations to make the scheme more effective and improve landlords’ understanding of their legal responsibilities.

Proposed updates to the scheme

The consultation outlines several potential changes aimed at strengthening the scheme. These include collecting additional information on property standards when landlords register and allowing register data to be shared to help support gas safety enforcement and the development of future housing policy.

Why this matters for the Omagh area

With a growing private rental sector across the Omagh and wider Fermanagh and Omagh District Council area, the proposed changes could impact local landlords, letting agents and tenants.

DfC is seeking feedback on the possible benefits and any concerns around the proposed changes, and responses from local stakeholders will help shape the future of the scheme.
