New rates for statutory payments in force from April 2022
Employers should be aware that from April 2022 a number of statutory payment rates increase for the 2022-23 financial year.
Statutory Maternity, Paternity, Shared Parental and Adoption Pay
From 3 April 2022, Statutory Maternity Pay, Statutory Paternity Pay, Statutory Shared Parental Pay and Statutory Adoption Pay all increase from £151.97 to £156.66 per week.
Statutory Parental Bereavement Pay
From 6 April 2022, Statutory Parental Bereavement Pay will be introduced in Northern Ireland. This will be at the same rate as the other statutory payments of £156.66 per week or 90% of average weekly earnings (whichever is lower).
Statutory Sick Pay
From 6 April 2022, Statutory Sick Pay will increase from £96.35 to £99.35.
Statutory Redundancy Payment
From 6 April 2022, the Statutory Redundancy Payment will be limited to £594 a week. The maximum Statutory Redundancy Payment payable will be £17,820.
Employer National Insurance contributions
From 6 April 2022, employer National Insurance contributions will rise from 13.80% to 15.05%, as the Health and Social Care Levy comes into effect in the UK.
