Can you describe your business?
We manufacture LineMan mobile clotheslines which are available in a range of sizes to suit most needs. We sell Nationwide from our base on the main A5 Ballygawley-Omagh road and also through a network of distributors.
We also offer re-string & general repair services for all makes of mobile clotheslines, including wheel replacements, all of which can be done at the customer’s home, if required.
Why did you start your own business?
I always wanted to design and sell my own product, that I could guarantee in all aspects. Having identified a growing demand some years ago for mobile clotheslines and together with my wife we put the ‘wheels in motion’. (pun intended).
What are the best things about running your own business?
Designing and marketing our own product with total control of the manufacturing process from start to finish.
Satisfaction from delivering the finished product and getting positive reactions from customers, especially if the line is a present or a surprise.
Also with the variety of work that the job entails, every day is different.
What are the main challenges facing the business?
Balancing increasing costs of raw material and production, while still trying to provide a quality product at a fair price.
What advice would you give to someone starting a business?
Treat customers how you would like to be treated yourself. Take people’s feedback on board. Keep improving and be passionate.
