Can you describe your business?
The Little Food Co. is a small, family run ‘quirky’ café and takeaway on Bridge Street, Omagh.
The Menu boasts a wide variety of choice and suits the whole family. Breakfasts, Lunches and vening specials prove very popular and are all served in a friendly, relaxed environment.
Why did you start your own business?
The Little Food Co. was initially established in November 2018. The building had remained derelict for a number of years and the owners worked hard to bring back life into a building that wasn’t being used. I was given the opportunity to take the business over in January, having many years experience in the catering industry and a passion for working with food, this always was the next step for me. I am extremely grateful to the previous owners for their continuing support and guidance.
What are the best things about running your own business?
The best thing about running your own business, is having the ability to be flexible. Being able to work around the needs of my family is very important to me. I can attend school plays, sports days etc without having to ask for time off.
What are the main challenges facing the business?
The main challenge facing any new, small local businesses like ‘The Little Food Co.’ Is competing with larger and more established franchises. The increasing running costs for any business is always a challenge too.
What advice would you give to someone starting a business?
“You get what you put in”, if you’re willing to work hard , it will be rewarding in the end. Go for it!
