Smart Data Smart Regions (SDSR)– National Launch of the Smart Data Smart Region in N Ireland

The “Smart” data sector is growing at a rapid rate, and is fast becoming one of the leading industries in Europe. However, whilst the demand for these transversal skills is growing, the supply is not. In order to address this skills deficit, our Smart Data Smart Regions project will:

  • Improve the ability of Vocational Education Training (VET) practitioners to engage with and effectively teach smart data strategies to new generations of entrepreneurs and businessmen and women; enabling them to use their new knowledge to increase the effectiveness of the education systems they work in.
  • Develop, implement, share, promote and exploit our work in line with the digital imperative: our learning resources will be fully optimised for use across computer, tablet and mobile devices, and make full use of the high degree of interactivity and personalization that contemporary digital learning affords.

Our project is a pioneering and transformative project because of its ability to overcome the smart skills deficit in two levels of the VET sector – practitioners and policy makers. As a result of our project, an increasing number of institutions will effectively integrate smart data skills into their second target group – VET managers, policy makers and decision makers who will learn how to use data to adapt and optimise entrepreneurship development strategies according to their region’s needs and opportunities, creating genuinely smarter regions in the short and long term.

Digital Omagh is a network to help promote, inspire and engage with anyone working or interested in the Digital Industries in Omagh and surrounding regions.  Come along and network with like-minded people and hear about the progress of the digital sector within the region.  During the evening Nicholas O’Shiel, Chief Executive of Omagh Enterprise will present the Strategic Guide to Smart Data in Northern Ireland.  Smart Data Smart Regions (SDSR) is an Erasmus+ funded project led by Omagh Enterprise Company with partners from Northern Ireland (Canice Consulting), Ireland (Leitrim County Council), Germany (Europaallee10, Kaiserslautern, Zetis), Netherlands (Stichting Business Development Friesland) and Belgium (Teleregions Net aisbl, Rue de Luxembourg).
