ICO Grants Programme

Funding to support research into privacy and data protection issues and develop privacy enhancing solutions

The Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) grants programme invites organisations to bid for funding to support independent research into privacy and data protection issues and develop privacy enhancing solutions.

Who can apply?
The ICO grants programme is open to academic institutions, civil society groups, trade and industry associations and organisations with a genuine commitment to public benefit outcomes. A number of awards will be made each year of between £20,000 and £100,000.

Guide for applicants
Proposals do not need to be technology based but must have practical application and provide real world solutions for the UK public and organisations. Full criteria for the ICO grants programme can be found in the applicant’s guide 2017/18 (PDF, 186K)

You can also view a recording of the ICO grants programme webinar that details what you need to know.
