Business Profile: E.Mi Nail Design NI

Can you describe your business?

The E.Mi company presents thousands of latest and exclusive ready-made solutions for nail art, developed by Ekaterina Miroshnichenko, a world champion at nail design. E.Mi supplies gel polish, gel extension systems but has unique products such as Empasta, Glossemi, texttone, princot, gel paints collections, designer foil and a great variety of décor materials and accessories
for nail-art. Each collection is an original interpretation of the latest tendencies, embodied in nail design and adjusted to beauty salons
version: Incredibly beautiful and unique on first sight, they are easy to fulfil after a training course (training school is situated in Dublin) or master-class video.

Why did you start your own business?

I have worked in the beauty industry since I was 16 and have always been passionate about it. I always dreamt of having my own salon and in 2006 I achieved this. Thankfully we are still open 11 years on and here’s to many more. Being a busy mum of three and running a salon I haven’t much spare time, but the reason why I wanted to introduce and sell the E.Mi products is because I love working with the products. They will meet all requirements for naildesigners taking into consideration all peculiarities of work, saving the operating time & giving great opportunities for creativity.

What are the best things about running your own business?

I get to pursue my passion and there’s the flexibility, working my own hours and times.

What are the main challenges facing the business?

Brand awareness, introducing the products to the salons and getting new customers. There’s also other competitors more well known brands.

What advice would you give to someone starting a business?

Do plenty of background/research work when creating your business plan. Be prepared to work hard (long hours) and don’t throw the
towel in at the first hurdle. Stay positive.

Can you describe your experience of running a business in three words or less?

Reliable, innovative and knowledgeable.
