Cyber Security Event in Enniskillen

As part of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council’s continued commitment to supporting businesses in the area, a FREE two hour workshop on Cyber Security will be delivered by cyberiaireland.com on 8th June from 6pm – 8pm in Enniskillen Business Centre, Lackaghboy Industrial Estate, Enniskillen.

Cyberia will provide a jargon free information session outlining the myths and reality of cyber security for small businesses, covering the following:

  • an outline of why and how small businesses are at risk;
  • the main threats explained in Plain English – Viruses/spyware/malware, phishing, hacking, ransomware, data theft, careless or malicious insiders, unsecure devices and the Internet of Things;
  • the real impacts of cyber attack – loss of data, business disruption, reputational and brand damage, loss of customers, decreased revenue, jeopardising compliance, fines/legal costs;
  • and the simple, cost effective measures that can be put in place in any business to mitigate against cyber attack, for example the

“Wannacry” global attack that impacted the NHS among other organisations worldwide. The workshop will be highly interactive, with demonstrations and real life relevant examples.  There will be an opportunity for businesses to take an online assessment of the cyber security of their business; and there will be plenty of “take aways” such as an infographic covering the dos and don’ts of cyber security; links to key resources; trial versions of relevant software products etc.

In advance of this workshop, Cyberia are carrying out research on the cyber security of small businesses in Northern Ireland and would very much appreciate if you could take 5 minutes to complete a survey that gathers data on awareness of cyber security; how severe businesses believe the threat to be; how vulnerable businesses feel to cyber attack; how they feel about mitigation of cyber risks; and what cyber security measures are in place within small businesses in Northern Ireland.

The link to the survey is surveymonkey.co.uk/r/cybersecurityni The findings would be very valuable in advance of the workshop and would give a good indication as to the levels of awareness of cyber security within local businesses and the type of help businesses particularly need.

Should you wish to reserve a place at this workshop and learn more about cyber security, please contact sharon.mcgillion@fermanaghomagh.com to reserve a place.   Places are limited so early booking is advised.
