Can you describe your business?
My business offers makeup applications and all aspects of hairdressing to the public. We also offer lessons for both services. At Del Loughran Hairdressing myself and my team work hard to provide a high standard of hairdressing and makeup artistry, as well as creating a relaxing atmosphere for our clients.
Why did you start your own business?
From a young age I knew I wanted to have a salon to call my own. After my A-Levels, I completed my hairdressing in South West College and my passion for the industry continued to grow. I built up my name and went self-employed in 2014. It was the best decision from day one.
What are the best things about running your own business?
I love the flexibility while working for myself. Having a little boy, deciding my own hours is great! Seeing people leave my salon with a smile on their face makes it all worthwhile.
What are the main challenges facing the business?
Keeping up-to-date with changing trends can be challenging when you are so busy, but when you have a passion for your work it makes it much easier to keep on top.
What advice would you give to someone starting a business?
Go for it! Be prepared for long hours and hard work but keep your end goal in mind and you can achieve it!
