Can you describe your business?
Fairy Clean offer a wide range of professional cleaning services, from regular home cleans to one–off deep cleans, office cleans, new build cleans and carpet and upholstery cleaning. We pride ourselves on the high standard and reliable service we provide to each of our customers.
Why did you start your own business?
I saw a gap in the market for a professional cleaning service, one which people could rely on. I also love cleaning so I thought why not! I also completed a marketing degree a few years ago, so understand the main tools of marketing a business.
What are the best things about running your own business?
Flexibility is a great thing when you’re self-employed. It allows me to choose my own days and hours of work, which suits perfectly when you have a young baby! Making our customers happy and showing them the end result after a clean is really the best thing about running my own business.
What are the main challenges facing the business?
Recruitment has been the main challenge the business has faced so far. It’s extremely important that I employ the right people to carry out the standard which I have set and that our customers expect. Unfortunately, I can’t be at every job, therefore I have to put great trust in my employees to be as passionate about the business as I am. Thankfully I have a fantastic team who want to provide the best service every time.
What advice would you give to someone starting a business?
Just to go for it and take the chance. Hard work, determination and a positive attitude will pay off and always remember to listen to your own instinct. Take all the advice and help you can get but remember only you know what you want the business to be and only you can make it happen.
