Can you describe your business?

Bei Capelli is a modern sophisticated salon situated in Dromore. Clients are welcomed and offered professional services and the most current and classic styles and trends catering for all ages and images.

Why did you start your own business?

I always have had a yearning to open my own salon, I have a major passion for hairdressing. I completed my HND in hair and beauty management which gave me a good insight to what it would involve. After securing a job as a hairdressing tutor with Southwest College and carrying out many courses updating my own hairdressing skills, I felt that the one thing that would make my career feel complete would be to open my own salon. So after much encouragement from family, clients and colleagues, I felt the time was right.

What are the best things about running your own business?

The more passion I get for hairdressing. I love to learn new tricks of the trade and about new products, and in running my own business it is up to me to seek out what is new and best for my clients. There is nothing better than the feeling of job satisfaction when you see your clients walk out feeling beautiful and relaxed knowing that you have done a good job.

What are the main challenges facing the business?

Keeping ahead of the game. I am my own worst critic being extremely competitive with myself, wanting my clients to feel 100 per-cent perfection and more. I really appreciate my clients, I wouldn’t be where I am today without them I feel they deserve the best of what can be offered, that ‘je ne sais quoi’. I am always looking for something new that makes you stand out, including products, services styles. In hairdressing you need to be prepared to never stop learning, you can never be fully qualified as there is always something new around the corner. You need to be prepared to keep feeding the money and your time back in to education. I have some fantastic friends in the business and we keep each other motivated updating our skills and keeping each other clued in to what is happening in the hairdressing world.

What advice would you give to someone starting a business?

Go for it. Don’t let anyone knock your confidence, anything is possible when you work hard for it. Be prepared for hard work but it is all well worth it when you get the feeling of satisfaction. Have a good and realistic business plan with realistic goals and of course, make sure you get in contact with the fantastic staff at Omagh Enterprise, they definitely take away that scary feeling LOL.

Can you describe your experience of running a business in three words or less?

Worth every minute.
