Can you describe your business?

Reflexologist specialising in cancer, infertility and maternity. I teach baby reflexology to parents which helps with colic, reflux, teething, improves sleep patterns, constipation and there’s the added benefit of bonding time with your baby. I specialise in Swedish, sports and Indian head massage. I also offer wellness coaching for nutrition and energy. My role is to improve my clients’ diet and offer support to help them reach their goals, whether it is weight loss or nutrition and energy. Life can be so busy and taking time for your health and well-being can improve your lifestyle.

Why did you start your own business?

I have always loved massage. I believe it is better to do something you love in life rather than regret. After studying reflexology I realised how fascinating it was. I continued my passion by specialising in reflexology, massage and nutrition. The flexibility when you have a young family is a bonus.

What are the best things about running your own business?

The gratitude I get from clients. It can change people’s lives by improving their mental, emotional and physical health. I’m inspired by my clients’ results from weight loss, digestive health and energy. When you get a message from a client saying it’s all thanks to you my husband has lost 6.5 stone, or a bride who has dropped three dress sizes, it’s an amazing feeling. There’s also the flexibility with my family. I have a young family and it means I can do school runs and be there for important stages in their lives. You are always learning and growing as a business and introducing new therapies.

What are the main challenges facing the business?

Technology within my business. Advertising has changed so much. I’m just getting used to Facebook and the modern methods. I grew up in the 90s and technology was not such a big thing. The help from the Enterprise Centre has made it easier.

What advice would you give to someone starting a business?

Love what you do. Always be willing to learn and grow as a business. Do not be afraid to learn new skills.

Can you describe your experience of running a business in three words or less?

Rewarding and challenging.
