Expansion Move As Omagh Insurance Providers Acquire Newry Firm

Omagh-based Dickson Insurance Brokers has acquired Sam McCullough Insurance Services which has traded in Newry for three generations.

The expansion has increased staff numbers and also heralded a move to modern new offices at John Mitchell Place in the heart of Newry – not long after the company opened a £1.2 million head office and call centre and upgraded IT systems to enhance efficiency.

Manager of the Newry office, Charlene Knox, said Dickson Insurance were looking forward to meeting McCullough clients and working hard on their behalf.

“We welcome them and assure them of our very best service, competitive cover – and familiar faces,” she said.

“Now more than ever, because we’ve expanded our insurer agency panel to offer even more competitive products and wider choice, we can also quote for commercial risks based in the Republic.

“Our highly experienced team look after all aspects of insurance assistance, claims handling and health and safety guidance.”

The business offers an extensive range of personal, commercial and corporate insurance: private motor, household, travel, investment and commercial property, agricultural and commercial vehicles, motor fleets, employer and public liability cover.

Sectors include retail, agricultural, manufacturing, leisure, entertainment, haulage, construction, engineering, motor traders and professional services.

Founded in 1992, the 100 per cent family-owned firm has grown steadily to become one of the most progressive independent insurance brokers in Northern Ireland.

Ashley Dickson, managing director, said the latest move would enable the company – which looks after 20,000 policyholders – to expand further, increasing staff to 80-plus over the next two years.
