Can you describe your business?

In a nutshell, Halfcubed is an online marketing company primarily focussed on the iGaming sector, using innovative methods to advance brand awareness. However, we are also available to build effective websites for other companies who are interested in SEO strong websites and successfully developing their online presence.

Why did you start your own business?

I originally started building websites simply as a hobby and would often spend my spare time researching how Google works, and the types of websites it tended to rank highest. Once I realised its potential for profit, it became much more than a diverting pastime and I began to take it more seriously than just messing about with websites every evening. Having staff who have stronger skills than me in certain areas was also a large incentive to create and expand the company.

What are the best things about running your own business?

There are probably too many to mention them all! Some obvious ones stand out: The freedom of being your own boss; the flexibility of setting your own hours; and the ability to guide the company in the direction you want would definitely all top the list.

What are the main challenges facing the business?

With Google constantly changing algorithms, it can be challenging to try and keep up with what works now and what doesn’t. As well as predicting what will and won’t work in the future. Working in the iGaming industry can also pose a challenge. Being a global company, we are constantly keeping an eye on iGaming markets all around the world and must be continually aware of all the different rules and laws affiliated to each country we are dealing with, which can often be a difficult endeavour.

What advice would you give to someone starting a business?

Just go for it. Once you have an idea and know how you are going to make the business a success, go for it. There will always be reasons and excuses not to start a business, but if you truly believe in your idea then ignore the perceived obstacles and put all your energy into making it happen. I have lost count of the number of times I have heard, “it will never work” or “go get a proper job’ in the past. I don’t hear that anymore as I’ve found that others will share in your optimism once you take that first step.

Can you describe your experience of running a business in three words or less?

Exciting, involved and profitable.
