Tyrone Builders Bid For Top National Awards

Four building companies from Tyrone between them have scooped six Master Builder of the Year Awards.

They have now have qualified for the national final in London next month.

Lowry Bros in Castlederg and Alskea Contracts in Dungannon scooped the prizes for commercial project of the year and large renovation project of the year in Northern Ireland.

Forthill Builders in Cookstown won two awards for new home and kitchen of the year and Moffitt and Robinson in Omagh also scooped two for bathroom and energy efficiency project of the year for the region.

As a result of winning the regional awards these building firms will now go up against the nation’s best builders in a bid to be named the overall Master Builder of the Year.

The awards ceremony will be held at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge Hotel in London on February 18. Television presenter and architecture enthusiast Charlie Luxton will be presenting the awards to the winners.

If Lowry Bros, Alskea Contracts, Forthill Builders or Moffitt and Robinson goes on to win the overall Master Builder of the Year title, they will drive away in a brand new commercial vehicle, while the client who nominated the company will win a £3,000 cash prize.

The Master Builder of the Year Awards, a nation-wide search by the Federation of Master Builders (FMB) to find the best builders in the UK, is unique. Nominations must come from a satisfied client, and builders are judged on their technical ability together with their customer service skills.

Lisa Ward, FMB Service Director for Ireland said: “Small local builders are vital to the British economy and the Master Builder of the Year Awards acknowledge the good work that they do. For the clients it is about publicly showing their appreciation for a job well done as it is up to them to nominate their builder. This is what makes these awards extra special.”
