World Conference on Entrepreneurship
The World Conference on Entrepreneurship takes place in Dublin this June 11th-14th with an expected 1,000 delegates and entrepreneurs descending on the fair city. The theme of this years conference is ‘Entrepreneurship and Sustainability’ – thrashing out the international movement towards sustainability whether that is related to our environment, our cultures, our businesses or our economies. Entrepreneurs, politicians, researchers and consumers are increasingly seeking to find solutions to the challenges of growing economies and businesses that are environmentally sustainable, socially just and rooted locally, and this conference will offer each of you an opportunity to participate in such discussions.
Entrepreneur’s Day – June 11th
There is a dedicated Entrepreneur’s Day on June 11th. Delivered by entrepreneurs for entrepreneurs, the programme will delve into creativity, funding, leadership and innovation. This extensive programme will include addresses from Raomal Perera on how to raise money through successful crowd funding campaigns and Nigel Newman encouraging lateral thinking and reimagining success. Serial entrepreneur Noelle O’Connor and Dragon’s Den star Gavin Duffy give their insights into building successful businesses in Ireland while the final address of the day will be given by Michael Houlihan and Bonnie Harvey who are serial entrepreneurs, industry reformers, successful brand builders, and co-founders of hugely successful Barefoot Cellars.
The conference also plays host to a GEM forum – this session is described as an opportunity to examine the entrepreneurship profiles of different economies and regions around the world, and to use policy as a lens to understand practice. Experts from both research and policy from all over the world will engage the audience in discussion on the economies featured and raised. Over the past 15 years, the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) has provided a comprehensive, multidimensional picture of entrepreneurship in over 100 economies. The session will include entrepreneurship researchers and policy experts from various regions that will include three developed economies (Ireland, Korea Republic, and the United States) and three developing economies (Chile or Argentina, Croatia and South Africa).
Women’s Entrepreneurship Forum
June 11th at the conference will also see TESS host the Women’s Entrepreneurship Forum. As women worldwide are transforming their potential into entrepreneurship, TESS will ignite conversations, connections and community in the women’s enterprise ecosystem. The forum sets out to engender a broader conversation, creates collisions of smart, committed people, and provides a collegial atmosphere to make connections that matter. The forum wwill be led by Orlaith Carmody (MD of Mediatraining.ie), Paula Fitzsimons (National Director ‘Going for Growth’, and Susan Duffy (Executive Director, Babson College Center for Women’s Entrepreneurial Leadership).
The conference also have the social side all tied up with a Gala dinner in Dublin’s famous Mansion House, a golf tournament are just two of the highlights for visiting delegates.
