Council Host Social Enterprise Business Planning Course

Omagh District Council, through its Social Enterprise Omagh Programme, continues to support the social economy locally with a special training course entitled ‘Social Enterprise Business Planning’.

The course, which will take place on Thursday, March 20 in Omagh Enterprise Centre from 7-9.30pm, follows on from the successful ‘Preparing for Social Enterprise’ course held last autumn. The focus of the session is a step-by-step look at how to prepare a business plan for a social economy organisation and the importance of business planning within the social economy sector.

The Social Enterprise Omagh Programme is part funded by Invest Northern Ireland and the European Regional Development Fund under the Sustainable Competitiveness Programme for Northern Ireland and the Department for Social Development.

The course covers all stages of developing a business plan for a social economy business enterprise, examining the need for applying business planning in developing a social enterprise, as well as marketing, project management and group working. There will be a best practice presentation by an established, successful social enterprise organisation and an opportunity to discuss and share best practice.

The course offers practical and interactive support and will equip attendees with the knowledge and skills needed to successfully implement a Social Enterprise vision.

The “Social Enterprise Business Planning” course will be delivered by Joe Blair from local organisation Global Horizon Skills Ltd which provides professional and personal training and development.

The company has a team of dynamic facilitators who have extensive industry experience and have developed best practice in the social economy sector as well as the private and public sectors.
