New Hotel Plan For Omagh Town Centre

A plan has been submitted to expand a town centre bar in Omagh, County Tyrone, into a 27-bedroom hotel.

The plan involves renovating the first floor of the Rue and Ostlers Arms, along with the upper floors of other units along High Street.

The planning application also states there will be a need for a “minor extension” to the rear of two units at Royal Arms Mews.

The site was formerly occupied by the Royal Arms hotel.

The former hotel ceased operations more than 10 years ago.

The planning application has been made by Inn House Ltd which is controlled by the Omagh businessman, Mickey McElroy.

Mr McElroy said he has further plans on the drawing board to add a ballroom to the complex.

He is also planning to carry out work on a car park he owns in the town that would enable it to be used as an indoor market.

Mr McElroy said that enabling works would begin on the hotel element of the development as soon as planning permission was granted.
