Award For Cooley Primary School Pupils

Year Four pupils from Cooley PS, Sixmilecross impressed a team of judges from the world of business to win the ‘Our City’ Competition in W5 last week.

The competition, organised by Young Enterprise NI, saw students from all over the province submit a business plan for a new restaurant, as well as give a presentation to judges Leigh Curran (Bank of Ireland), Rhonda Lynn (Belfast City Council) and Laura Nolan (Henderson Group) at the Belfast venue.

Pupils from Cooley PS impressed the judges with their restaurant, Mr Marcos.

The business plan for this family-friendly restaurant featured an innovative menu with items such as a ‘Leaning Tower of Pavlova’, as well as realistic pricing and plenty to keep children occupied.

Students were assisted with this planning by Debbie Deans from First Trust Bank, Omagh at an in-school seminar led by Sandra Magee from Young Enterprise in February.
