Local construction firms scoop top Federation of Master Builders awards

TWO local building firms have been recognised with prestigious Master Builder of the Year Awards.

Castlederg building company Lowry Brothers Ltd has scooped the Northern Ireland Commercial prize, while Omagh-based firm Moffitt & Robinson Construction Ltd has taken the Northern Ireland Energy Efficiency prize.

Lowry Brothers were recognised for their work in building an extension onto the Newtownstewart Presbyterian Church while Moffitt & Robinson Construction Ltd won for their work in making a property in Omagh suitable for a retired lady who wanted it to be economical and comfortable to live in.

The Master Builder of the Year Awards, a nation-wide search by the Federation of Master Builders (FMB) to find the best builders in the UK, is unique.

Nominations must come from a satisfied client, and builders are judged on their technical ability together with their customer service skills.

Both companies will now go through to compete in the national finals.

Congratulating both companies, West Tyrone MLA Tom Buchanan said they had done the construction Industry in the area proud.

“This is an excellent achievement and one that can only be gained through outstanding skill, high quality workmanship and technical ability. These awards prove without a shadow of doubt the outstanding skills within our construction Industry in West Tyrone and the professionalism with which each individual project is serviced and delivered.”

The national winners of the eleventh Master Builder of the Year Awards will be announced by architect and TV presenter George Clarke, who will present the coveted accolades at a ceremony at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge Hotel in London on March 20 2013.

If either firm wins the overall Master Builder of the Year title, they will drive away in the brand new Nissan Light Commercial Vehicle of their choice worth up to £20,000, while the client who nominated them wins a fantastic £3,000 cash prize.
