Apprentice of the Year Awards 2013

The Apprentice of the Year Awards recognise the success of Apprentices who have made a real difference to their own future and to the organisation they work for.

Categories

There are four categories:

1. Apprentice of the Year Award, sponsored by City & Guilds

2. Most Promising 1st Year Award, sponsored by Michelin

3. Recognition Award, sponsored by Fujitsu

4. Innovation in Partnership Award, sponsor to be confirmed

Who can enter?

Apprentices currently on the ApprenticeshipsNI programme are eligible for nomination for one or more categories, provided they meet the criteria as set out below:

  • Apprentice of the Year is awarded on the basis of outstanding occupational progress, practical and theoretical ability, positive approach to employment and personal qualities
  • Most Promising 1st Year Award is presented to the apprentice who clearly demonstrates considerable progress in practical and theoretical application within the first year of their Apprenticeship at Level 2 or Level 3 and is on the ApprenticeshipsNI programme
  • The Recognition Award is presented to the apprentice who has overcome challenges/obstacles and who through personal determination has achieved skills and qualifications during their time on ApprenticeshipsNI
  • The Innovation in Partnership Award is designed to acknowledge excellence and originality between the Training Supplier and Employer in the delivery of Apprenticeship training. Joint nominations can be made with either training supplier or employer taking the lead to nominate

Key dates

  • Closing date for submitting nominations: 12 noon, Thursday 28 February 2013
  • Workplace visits: week commencing 15 April 2013
  • Awards ceremony: Wednesday 15 May 2013

Awards ceremony

Winners, shortlisted apprentices and their nominating organisations will be invited to the Apprentice of the Year Awards ceremony, which is being held on Wednesday 15 May 2013 in Holiday Inn, Ormeau Road, Belfast.
