Women told networking is vital in order to grow your own business
The first Women in Business networking event of the autumn was held at Hillsborough Castle yesterday with more than 140 female entrepreneurs and business leaders taking part.
Former RTE journalist Orlaith Carmody was the keynote speaker at the Networking For Growth- themed gathering, sponsored by Lagan Valley Island conference centre.
Ms Carmondy is managing director of MediaTraining.ie, a communications consultancy, set up with RTE Dragons Den investor Gavin Duffy.
Ms Carmody gave an inspiring speech about how it is possible to shatter the glass ceiling with determination and vision by developing a strategy for personal, business and career success.
She also shared her experience, tips and advice on the art of networking and how it is invaluable in the growth and development of business.
Women in Business NI (WIBNI) is the largest business network for females who live in Northern Ireland.
Established in 2002, it has around 800 members from across all industry sectors.
WIBNI chief executive Roseann Kelly said the organisation has a full programme of events planned for the coming months.
“We have an impressive schedule of events ahead including masterclasses, our annual awards ceremony and facilitated networking sessions to look forward to and Hillsborough Castle was such a fitting place to kick off our autumn/ winter programme,” Roseann said.
“All our events guarantee attendees at least 20 minutes of facilitated networking in order for our members to make genuine business connections and exchange business cards.
“Those at Hillsborough Castle left the building truly inspired and motivated by our keynote speaker to do business over the coming months.”
A WIBNI networking lunch takes place in Belfast on September 20 and there will be a How to Grow Your Business Through PR masterclass, sponsored by Invest Northern Ireland, in Newry, on September 25.
