Rural Challenge Programme 2012

The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD) launched its £700,000 Rural Challenge Programme on 14 September 2012.
The aim of the Programme is to assist in tackling poverty and social isolation within rural communities.
The programme encourages rural community and voluntary groups to identify a local need and propose an initiative to address a poverty or social isolation issue within their rural community.  Seven target beneficary groupings have been identifed for the Programme and these are:-
  • Children & Young People;
  • Lone Parents;
  • Unemployed;
  • Disabled;
  • Carers;
  • Elderly;
  • Ethnic Minorities
The Scheme is open to receive applications from Friday 14th September and will remain open until 4pm on Friday 14th December 2012.
Please note that any applications received after 4pm on 14th December 2012 will not be accepted.
