Innovation awards nominations open

Some of the north’s top entrepreneurs are in with a chance to take this year’s Innovation Founders Award.

Ahead of the NISP Connect £25k awards, nominations are now open to mark the achievement of community leaders who have achieved distinction in founding, leading or building a life sciences or technology based business in the north.

The winner will be guest of honour at the £25k awards and deliver a keynote address before an audience of more than 300.

The awards – sponsored by Bank of Ireland – will identify and present the best knowledge-based ideas with the most commercial potential from the publicly funded research base in the north.

Last year’s Innovation Founder, Hugh Cormican, said the award was a great opportunity to shine the spotlight on the north’s talent in the science and technology sector.

“The work of entrepreneurs who are helping to transform the Northern Ireland’s knowledge economy hasn’t been well recognised to date,” he said.

“We need to change that and thereby encourage more innovators to act on their talents and engage in the process of commercialisation.”

The closing date for nominations is July 31.
