Celebrating Omagh’s Independent Traders
In recognition of the character and contribution Independent Traders bring to Omagh, and the mix of excellent shopping and hospitality they offer, the town will celebrate it’s Independent Trading during a weekend of events and discounts from now until Saturday 7th July.
Omagh town centre – with it’s wide variety of shops, cafes, public houses and restaurants – will mark Independent Traders’ weekend, a type of ‘local shop campaign’, by offering special discounts and promotional events over these days.
Town centre continues on Thursday and Friday afternoons with cartoon characters, providing balloons and sweets. The promotion of Independent Traders will continue at Omagh Show on Saturday 7th July. All discounts and special offers from Omagh’s Independent Traders are available throughout the Independent Traders’ celebrations until Saturday.
Omagh is a unique town with it’s eclectic mix of independent retailers, stores that are not available in every other town, stores that offer something different and special to the people of Omagh and visitors to the town. This special Independent Traders Day is an exciting way to celebrate the local town centre businesses, and at the same time benefit from the many special offers and discounts available, which are so welcome during this credit crunch.
The countdown to this celebration is now in full swing with entertainment, competitions and other goodies being organised to generate a fun atmosphere and ensure the event makes it’s mark.
Omagh District Council Chairman, Cllr Errol Thompson said, “Omagh District Council has developed the Independent Traders celebrations into an annual event, aimed at raising awareness of the character and uniqueness that independent traders bring to the town centre.”
