Top green award collected for innovative recycling system

An Omagh-based company has picked up an all-island award for its green credentials. Waste Systems Ltd won Best Green Tech Innovation at the final of the third annual Irish Times InterTradeIreland Innovation Awards, held in Dublin.

Waste Systems Ltd has developed and designed a separation process with the potential to revolutionise the recycling industry worldwide, making it possible to achieve 100% recovery of waste previously considered unmanageable and uneconomical to recycle.

The company was established in 2010 by Co Tyrone man Nishi Ward, who says he has ambitious expansion plans over the next five years.

“We are honoured to have won the Best Green Tech Innovation category in these prestigious awards and are delighted that our work has been recognised on an all-island level,” he said.

“This will be a tremendous boost to everyone working within our company and will inspire us to keep being innovative, working hard and to keep pushing towards our ambitious global growth plans.

“We’ll continue to have a ‘Why not?’ approach to innovation, which is the root of our success.”
