Heavenly Tasty Organics: award-winning after three months

Founder of Heavenly Tasty Organics Shauna McCarney from Co Tyrone won three business awards in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland since launching last August.

“Obsessed” with pure organic products, and seeing a gap in the organic baby food market, the mother of two founded the company two years ago. She carried out research and put in a lot of hard work until launching her products into stores last August.

Initially launching into 39 SuperValu stores, after winning a contract to supply Musgrave Retail Partners NI, the company now also supplies over 20 other independently owned stores throughout Northern Ireland, and will hopefully be exporting into the Republic and London within the next two months.

In November McCarney won the ‘Indigenous Innovation/ Entrepreneurship’ award at the Women in Business Awards, held in the Ramada in Belfast.

She won the award for ‘Business Parent of the Year’ in the Maternity and Infant Awards, which was shown on TV3 on 5 December.

And Heavenly Tasty Organics also won the award for ‘Best Business Start-up’ in the Omagh Business Awards 2011.

McCarney is confident that winning these awards will help create more awareness of her products throughout the island of Ireland, where already, she has received interest from some retailers wishing to stock her products.

The company is based in the Food Business Incubation Centre, in Loughry College, Cookstown, and has also received support from Invest NI, SWARD through the EAFRD and DARD through the Rural Development Programme.

Looking to the future, McCarney is hoping to launch a new range of recipes and products for use in stages two and three of weaning.
