Heavenly Tasty Organic Ltd & Learning SPACE short-listed for Innovation/Entrepreneurship Award at Women in Business NI Awards 2011

A huge congratulations to our clients Shauna McCarney of Heavenly Tasty Organic Ltd and Lorraine McAleer of Learning Space who have been shortlisted for the Innovation/Entrepreneurship Award at the Women in Business NI Awards 2011. See today’s Irish News article below for further information on this fantastic event.

It was judgement day yesterday for the north’s most accomplished business women as a five-strong panel met to deliberate over entries in the inaugural Northern Ireland Business Awards. The adjudicators boiled down an original batch of more than 100 entrants into an impressive short-list across 10 categories. They also mulled over the names they see as most befitting of the top accolade of Outstanding Business Women of the Year when the gala awards night takes place in the Ramada Plaza on November 17.

“We were blown away with the standard in every single category,” judging panel chairwomen Edel Doherty, who chairs event organiser Women In Business and who also is managing director of Business Travel Solutions, said “From sole traders to leaders and owners of muti-million pound turnover companies it is clear there is a plethora of business women in Northern Ireland who are making a significant difference and a major contribution to the economy at this time.”

Ms Doherty was joined on the judging panel by Women in Business NI Chief Executive Roseann Kelly; Jackie Henry, partner at the awards initiative business partners Deloitte: Professor Yvonne Gallaghan, director of Gender Initiative at Queen University and Irish News business editor Gary McDonald.

As well as having Deloitee as headline sponsor, other business partners include Invest NI, Vodafone, JC Decaux, Moy Park, Made not Born, Mood Event Design and Lynn Recruitment. The after dinner celebrity guest speaker at the awards dinner will be Ruby Wax. WIBNI Chief Executive Roseann Kelly said: “Ruby is a successful entrepreneur who has built a lasting television career, spotting niche programming opportunities and developing them – a fitting choice for us. “ I know she is very much looking forward to coming to Belfast next month we are excited that such a well-known female personality has agreed to take part. Having enjoyed many of Ruby’s programmes over the years I’m sure she will make the awards finale even more memorable for women in business across NI”.

Wax told the Irish News: “I’m looking forward to coming to Belfast and meet the inspiring business women of Northern Ireland. “I’m glad to say that, in my own career, I have been surrounded by outstanding women, excelling in their respective workplaces. Women in Business don’t just have to write business plans deliver presentations and deal with an impending double dip recession – they often also have to balance their work life with home life. Those with a family will know the intricate planning that goes into managing play dates, children’s birthday parties, ensuring different tastes are catered for in the grocery shopping, making packed lunches and bringing the cat to the vet to get her yearly injections -all of which is a full time job itself”.
