NITB Events Funding Programme launches on 6th September

The NITB Events Funding Programme is designed to support home-grown and international events that will take place between 1 April 2012 and 31 March 2013. The programme has been developed to support the Draft Northern Ireland Tourism Strategy to 2020, by increasing visitor numbers and the income earned from tourism.

Funding programmes

There are two funding programmes available:

  • the National Tourism Events Fundwill support national events that contribute to specific geographical areas of Northern Ireland
  • the International Tourism Events Fund will support major events which aim to attract a high-level of international visitors, gain international media coverage, and which are likely to provide a high return on investment

How does the funding work?

Funding will be available for up to 50 per cent of successful applicants’ eligible costs for both national and international events. Some of the main funding criteria for the 2012-13 scheme will be based on how applicants will celebrate and support the significant milestones of Northern Ireland tourism over the next two years. These milestones include the Titanic Ceremony, the opening of Titanic Belfast and the Causeway Visitor Centre next year, and the UK City of Culture title for Londonderry in 2013.

How do I apply?

The 2012-13 Tourism Events Fund application will be available on the NITB website from 12pm on 6 September 2011. All applications must be submitted online by 12pm on 7 October 2011.

You can access the application form when it becomes available on the NITB website.
