Fernagh Sheds nominated for Excellence in Business Practice

Congratulations to our client Fernagh Sheds who has been nominated for the ‘Excellence in Business Practice’ award in the Omagh Business Awards.

The Business Practice award seeks out businesses, regardless of size, leading in terms of customer focus, innovation and business development.

Hosted by the Ulster Herald and Omagh Chamber of Commerce, the awards aim to celebrate the success, talent and all that’s good about business in Omagh district.

Fernagh Sheds began life in 2002 as the continuation of a hobby enjoyed by proprietor, Christopher Monaghan.

The idea was to have high quality timber products made for storage or use as outdoor living. A recent SWOT analysis provided the business with a focus on what it needs to do, the customers it needs to target and the timescales for doing the same. In challenging economic conditions, the company recognized the need for diversification and as such, new products have been developed. Following detailed market research, ecofriendly products are at a planning stage.

The company website is also set to be enhanced, as management recognise the growing demand for a comprehensive online presence. The website will be linked with facebook, in order to increase the marketability of the business and also potentially widen its already growing customer base.

The recipients of the seven award categories are set to be announced at a prestigious gala dinner in Kelly’s Inn on Friday 7th October 2011.

The new president of Omagh Chamber of Commerce, Chris Kelly said, “The Omagh Business Awards are a recognition of the entrepreneur’s and businesses in Omagh who have made things happen. “These are firms that have excelled in, customer service, marketing, export, business practice and innovation. “They have all met their challenges head on and continue to play their part in creating a vibrant enterprise economy here in Omagh.”

Dominic McClements, Ulster Herald General Manager, said “The Ulster Herald is delighted to be organising these awards in partnership with Omagh Chamber of Commerce and we look forward to an excellent response from the general business community. “It is only right that a forum is in place for local companies to gain recognition for achievement in their area of expertise.”
