Tourism businesses in Omagh and the wider Tyrone area are being encouraged to apply for the latest Sustainable Tourism Business Programme, a fully funded initiative designed to help businesses reduce costs, strengthen their environmental credentials and enhance the visitor experience.
Delivered by Tourism NI in partnership with The Tourism Space and Ulster University, the programme supports tourism operators to develop practical sustainability measures that can benefit both their business and the environment.
Valued at more than £2,000 per participant, the programme combines in-person workshops, online learning and expert support to help businesses identify opportunities for improvement and create realistic sustainability action plans.
The programme is aimed at tourism business owners and senior decision-makers responsible for managing accommodation, visitor attractions, hospitality venues, activity providers and tourism experiences where sustainability improvements can be implemented and measured.
Participants will have the opportunity to:
- Gain a university-certified accreditation to strengthen sustainability credentials and marketing.
- Identify ways to reduce energy, water and waste costs.
- Develop a practical sustainability action plan tailored to their business.
- Improve sustainability storytelling and visitor engagement.
- Access expert mentoring, tools and templates.
- Connect with a growing network of tourism businesses committed to sustainable growth.
With visitors increasingly seeking environmentally responsible destinations and experiences, sustainability can provide a valuable competitive advantage for local tourism businesses.
Expressions of interest for Cohort 6 are open now and close at 5pm on Friday 17 July.
