Digital Transformation Flexible Fund: A Major Opportunity for Omagh Businesses

Businesses in Omagh and across the Fermanagh & Omagh District Council area are being encouraged to explore the latest call of the Digital Transformation Flexible Fund (DTFF) — a significant opportunity to invest in advanced digital technology.

While the fund is open to eligible businesses right across Northern Ireland, it presents a particularly timely opportunity for companies in the Omagh area looking to modernise operations, improve efficiency, and compete in increasingly digital markets.

What support is available?

DTFF offers grants of £5,000 to £20,000, covering up to 70% of eligible project costs.

The focus is on genuine transformation — not simply digitising existing paperwork or upgrading software. Projects must demonstrate how technology will fundamentally improve productivity, innovation capacity, or business resilience.

Technologies supported include:

  • Smart environments and the Internet of Things (IoT)

  • Simulation, process automation and additive manufacturing

  • Big data and analytics

  • Immersive technologies

  • Artificial intelligence and machine learning

  • Blockchain technologies

For Omagh’s growing base of manufacturers, agri-food businesses, professional services, digital enterprises and creative industries, this funding could support automation, AI-driven decision-making, smarter production systems, or new digital service models.

Who can apply?

To qualify, your business must:

  • Be based in Northern Ireland and operating within one of the 11 council areas

  • Be a small or micro business

  • Be VAT registered (or VAT exempt but trading above the VAT threshold)

  • Have been trading for at least 12 months

  • Have a Digital Transformation Plan (or similar)

  • Focus on one or more of the six advanced digital technologies

  • Not have received more than €300,000 in public funding over the past three financial years

Why this matters locally

Omagh continues to position itself as a hub for innovation, remote working, and digital enterprise. Access to funds like DTFF strengthens that ambition — enabling local businesses to adopt cutting-edge tools while creating high-value jobs within the district.

At the same time, the programme forms part of Northern Ireland’s wider push to improve productivity and digital adoption across the economy.

The programme is open to eligible businesses across all sectors except primary agriculture, forestry and fisheries. Read the full applicant and project eligibility criteria.
