Manufacturing businesses in Omagh and the wider Fermanagh and Omagh district can now access new support to modernise their operations through the DATUM programme, a €8.3 million cross-border initiative focused on digital transformation.
The programme aims to help up to 100 small and medium-sized manufacturers across Northern Ireland and the border counties adopt practical digital technologies, improve efficiency, and strengthen long-term competitiveness.
DATUM will be delivered by the Advanced Manufacturing Innovation Centre at Queen’s University Belfast and Irish Manufacturing Research. Both organisations will work directly with participating businesses to provide hands-on support and expert guidance.
What the programme offers
Participating businesses will receive structured support to:
• Move from digital readiness to real-world implementation
• Reduce the risks linked to adopting new technologies
• Build internal digital skills and capability
• Improve productivity and long-term competitiveness
Unlike a traditional consultancy, DATUM is designed as a partner-led support programme. Businesses will work closely with experts to implement practical solutions, with funded access helping to reduce the financial barriers to digital adoption.
Who should apply
The programme is open to manufacturing SMEs across Northern Ireland, including those based in Omagh, as well as businesses in the border counties of Cavan, Donegal, Leitrim, Louth, Monaghan and Sligo.
Key date
The deadline for applications to the first cohort is 20 March 2026.
For Omagh manufacturers looking to embrace automation, digital tools, and smarter production processes, the DATUM programme offers a valuable opportunity to future-proof operations and stay competitive in an increasingly digital economy.
How to get started
Manufacturing SMEs can now submit an expression of interest to join DATUM. The DATUM team will arrange a 45-minute onboarding call to discuss eligibility, outline the pathway and confirm next steps.
Further opportunities will be released in due course. Find out more about DATUM.
The DATUM project is supported by PEACEPLUS, a programme managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB).
