Funding and expert support to help businesses test digital twin solutions

Technology SMEs and industry organisations in Omagh and across County Tyrone can apply for the Digital Twin Adoption Accelerator Programme 2026, delivered by Digital Catapult.

The programme brings small and medium-sized enterprises together with industry partners to develop and test digital twin solutions for real business challenges.

For Omagh businesses, this could provide an opportunity to improve efficiency, reduce costs, test new ideas and adopt advanced technology without carrying the full financial or technical risk alone.

What the programme offers

Successful partnerships will take part in a nine-month programme designed to accelerate the practical adoption of digital twin technologies.

Each project can receive up to £100,000 in Innovate UK grant funding, alongside:

  • technical support from Digital Catapult
  • access to specialist facilities and real-world testing environments
  • one-to-one mentoring throughout the programme
  • opportunities to work with experienced industry partners
  • participation in a final showcase for industry, government and investors

The programme could be particularly relevant to Omagh and rural Tyrone businesses working in areas such as agriculture, manufacturing, clean energy, creative technology or life sciences.

Digital twin technology can help businesses create virtual models of equipment, processes or environments, allowing them to test changes, identify problems and make better decisions before investing in physical changes.

Who can apply?

Applications must come from a pre-formed partnership involving:

  • a UK-based technology SME developing digital twin capabilities, such as data services, artificial intelligence or cyber-physical systems
  • an industry organisation interested in adopting a digital twin solution

Eligible sectors include automotive, agritech, maritime, aerospace and defence, clean energy, creative industries and life sciences.

Either partner can lead the application.

The programme will support up to nine partnerships, making early preparation important for interested Omagh businesses.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted online through Digital Catapult.

The deadline for applications is 6 September 2026.

Businesses should review the programme FAQs and competition terms before submitting an application.
