Employers in the hospitality and tourism sector across Northern Ireland – including here in Omagh – are being asked to share their views on the barriers they face when recruiting and retaining staff from diverse and underrepresented groups.
People 1st International, in partnership with the Hospitality and Tourism Skills Network (HATS), Tourism NI, the Northern Ireland Hotels Federation, NI Tourism Alliance and Ulster University, is carrying out important research to understand the skills and labour challenges within the sector.
Who should take part?
The survey is open to employers and those involved in recruitment in the hospitality and tourism industries.
What is the research about?
The aim is to identify the challenges employers face in attracting and keeping staff from groups who are more likely to be unemployed or economically inactive, including:
-
Disabled people
-
Those with caring responsibilities
-
Older workers
-
Young people from disadvantaged backgrounds
-
People lacking qualifications or with career gaps
-
Ethnic minorities and migrant workers
-
LGBTQ+ individuals

Findings from this research will help shape policy recommendations designed to strengthen government support, close skills gaps, and make the workforce more inclusive.
