Call for Clarity on Future of Go Succeed Business Support in Fermanagh & Omagh

A person sits at a desk with a clipboard, pen, and calculator, surrounded by cardboard boxes. A banner reads: Call for Clarity on Future of Go Succeed Business Support in Fermanagh & Omagh, Omagh Enterprise.

Businesses across Fermanagh and Omagh are being urged to stay informed as Economy Minister Dr Caoimhe Archibald calls on the Northern Ireland Office (NIO) to provide urgent clarity on the future of the Go Succeed business support service.

Currently funded through the UK Government’s Shared Prosperity Fund (SPF), Go Succeed has played a vital role in supporting local entrepreneurs and small businesses at every stage of their journey. However, this funding is set to end in March 2026 — and no clear information has been provided on what comes next.

While the UK Government’s recent Spending Review confirmed that the SPF will be replaced by a new Local Growth Fund, no details have been shared about how this fund will operate, or whether business start-up support will remain a key priority.

Speaking on the issue, Minister Archibald said:

“Go Succeed has been a real success story, serving as an important catalyst for many entrepreneurs and small businesses across the north. It was widely expected that responsibility for the service would be devolved, and my Department is ready to stand up a team to take this work forward.

However, the Spending Review did not provide any detail on the future of Go Succeed and there appears to be a role for NIO. I am therefore calling on the NIO to clarify the future of the service which is so important to our economy.”

Locally, organisations such as Omagh Enterprise have delivered Go Succeed services to start-ups and growth-stage businesses throughout the Fermanagh and Omagh District Council area. From financial planning workshops to one-to-one mentoring, the programme has been an essential source of free support and guidance for hundreds of local entrepreneurs.

As the business community looks toward the future, clarity around ongoing support is not just desirable — it’s essential. Businesses, delivery partners, and local councils all need reassurance that the successful work of Go Succeed won’t be lost in transition.
