Businesses across Omagh and Northern Ireland will be watching closely as Economy Minister John O’Dowd announces the start of a comprehensive review into the rates relief system for 2025/26.

The review will look at the current support available to businesses and consider how it can better meet the needs of the business community in a changing economic environment. Local businesses in Omagh will have the chance to share their views and concerns as part of this process.

Minister O’Dowd said:

“Rates relief is an important support for businesses and I want to ensure that it is fair, effective and sustainable.”

He continued:

“This review will provide an opportunity to assess how the current system is working and consider what changes might be needed to ensure it is delivering for businesses and supporting economic growth.”

The Minister stressed that the review is about ensuring fairness and sustainability, helping to support businesses through economic challenges while ensuring local government services remain funded.

If you run a business in Omagh or the surrounding area, it’s worth following the review and having your say when consultation opportunities arise.
