The Digital Transformation Flexible Fund (DTFF) is a strategic initiative aimed at assisting small and micro businesses, as well as social enterprises across Northern Ireland, in embracing advanced digital technologies. By providing financial support, the DTFF seeks to enhance productivity, stimulate innovation, and ensure long-term success for businesses in the digital era.

Funding Opportunities

Eligible businesses can access grants ranging from £5,000 to £20,000, covering up to 70% of the total project costs. Applicants are required to contribute the remaining 30% through match funding.

The fund specifically targets investments in advanced digital technologies, including:

  • Smart environments and the Internet of Things (IoT)
  • Simulation, process automation, and additive manufacturing

  • Big data and analytics

  • Immersive technologies (AR, VR, MR, Haptics)

  • Artificial intelligence and machine learning

  • Blockchain technologies

To qualify, projects must facilitate genuine business transformation rather than merely digitizing existing processes.

Focus on Fermanagh and Omagh

Businesses within the Fermanagh and Omagh District Council area are encouraged to participate in the DTFF. A dedicated in-person pre-briefing session is scheduled to provide detailed information about the fund and guidance on the application process:

  • Date: Friday, 13 June 2025

  • Time: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM

  • Venue: Theatre Room, Omagh Enterprise Centre, Great Northern Road, Omagh, BT78 5LU

  • Registration: Register Here

These sessions are invaluable for understanding the fund’s objectives, eligibility criteria, and the steps required to submit a successful application.

📝 Application Process

The DTFF operates on a call-based system. Call 5 is currently open for Expressions of Interest (EOI) and will close on Friday, 11 July 2025 at 12:00 PM. Submitting an EOI is the first step in the application process and does not guarantee funding but ensures you receive updates and can prepare ahead of the call opening.

Steps to apply:

  1. Attend a Pre-Briefing Session: Gain comprehensive knowledge about the fund and application procedures.

  2. Submit an Expression of Interest (EOI): Indicate your intent to apply and provide preliminary project details.

  3. Complete the Application: If your EOI is successful, you’ll be invited to submit a full application with detailed project plans and financial projections.

  4. Innovate NI Assessment: Successful applicants must complete an Innovate NI Innovation Assessment before drawing down funding.

🤝 Additional Support

Beyond the DTFF, the First Stop Shop initiative by Fermanagh and Omagh District Council offers tailored mentoring services to businesses in the region. This program provides assistance in areas such as business planning, financial advice, marketing strategies, and innovation support.
