Centra Invests £2m in Three Stores to Create 50 Jobs

Supermaket retailer Centra has said a £2 million investment in three stores has created 50 jobs around the north.

The convenience chain has opened new outlets in Belfast city centre and outside Beragh in Co Tyrone. A shop in Islandbawn, just outside Antrim, has also undergone a significant refurbishment project.

Centra Donegall Square East, next to Belfast City Hall, is the first Centra store for retailer Michael Quinn, adding to his four Mace stores located within Belfast at High Street, Castle Street, Royal Avenue and Malone Road.

The new Co Tyrone store, located on the A5 Curr Road, is the first for Naomi Curry.

Located along the busy Omagh to Ballygawley route, the new build outlet includes an off-licence, deli, a seating area and a fuel operation.

Centra Islandbawn is operated by local retailers Gerard, Cahal and Michael Boyd. It includes a deli, hot food carvery, a new instore bakery, along with a post office and off licence.

Sales director of Centra in Northern Ireland, Nigel Maxwell, said: “These stores are the latest examples of Centra providing just that and responding to the changing needs of the busy consumer. The stores are all trading well, reporting strong sales in their first few weeks and I wish the retailers and their teams every success.”
