Can you describe your business?
We were the first Vodafone partner agents in the UK (established in August 2017) currently operating locations in Omagh and Coleraine and plan to operate a further two stores in Northern Ireland later this year.
We operate a Vodafone retail business offering numerous products and services including mobile, superfast home and business broadband, business propositions, and technical services including phone diagnostics, data transfer and phone set-up.
Why did you start your own business?
Having worked for Vodafone and within the Telecoms arena for many years, and in addition always having a desire to run my own business, I was delighted to get the opportunity to re-engage with Vodafone UK who were rolling out a pilot Partner Agent scheme. This provided the opportunity to work with a globally trusted brand and run my own business at the same time.
What are the best things about running your own business?
I am the decision maker and have a degree of independence. Also having the ability to work and develop a brilliant team of committed and locally based colleagues determined to serve the local business and general consumer community.
What are the main challenges facing the business?
Increasing costs, fast moving and ever changing competitive environment, and never enough hours in the day.
What advice would you give to someone starting a business?
Believe in your idea, work to a structured plan, and ensure that your finances are in order.
