Belfast Events to Highlight Cyber Security Challenges

Global software and security experts descend upon Belfast this May

Belfast is preparing to host two major cyber security events in May. These events will provide key insights on the most pressing cyber security challenges that are facing our digital society.

They will also offer you an opportunity to hear and learn from a range of cyber security experts, including professional hackers, security entrepreneurs and even a former spy agency boss.

OWASP’s AppSec Europe 2017 conference
OWASP (Open Web Application Security Project) is a non-profit community organisation whose annual security conference is expected to attract more than 800 delegates from across the world.

The AppSec EU promises to provide thought leadership for cyber security professionals, enlightening talks, informative sessions, and great social experiences.

During the pre-conference (8 to 10 May 2017), you will have an opportunity to attend:

  • trainings courses
  • project and developer summits
  • outreach sessions and social event

The main conference(link is external) will take place at the Waterfront Hall on 11 and 12 May 2017 and offer technical talks, debate panels, hands-on learning, keynotes from industry leaders and a variety of other activities.

World Cyber Security Technology Research Summit
The Centre for Secure Information Technologies’ (CSIT) summit is an annual event, which brings together industry leaders, government policy-makers, start-ups and researchers.

This year’s theme is ‘Security for a future digital society’ with a focus on ‘planning today for the cyber security challenges of tomorrow’.

The summit will run in Belfast over two days on 9 and 10 May 2017. Some events are by invitation only, but others – like the Cyber Security Frameworks Workshop on Wednesday 10 May 2017 – are open to all.
